Whirlpool Manufacturers Warranty - AU & NZ

The following terms and conditions relate to the purchase of a [newly manufactured]/[trade second]/[refurbished] Whirlpool home appliance, including a refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, cooktop, range hood, oven, freestanding cooker or microwave oven (Product) manufactured by us (Whirlpool (Australia) Pty Ltd) and purchased by you.

1.     Statutory Guarantees & Rights

    (a) Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

    (b) In addition to the rights and remedies set out in this manufacturer’s warranty, you are entitled to bring an action directly against us as manufacturer of the Product for damages in the circumstances set out in the ACL. This manufacturer’s warranty is not intended in any way to limit or exclude such rights and remedies that you may have under law.

    2.   Manufacturer's Warranty For Australian & New Zealand Consumers

    (a) For Australian and New Zealand consumers, in addition to any other rights that you may have under the ACL, we offer you a manufacturer’s warranty on the following terms and conditions:

    (1) we warrant that the product will be free from defects in workmanship and materials;

    (2) the warranty above applies for 2 years from the original date of purchase (Warranty Period), regardless of whether a replacement has been provided under this warranty during the Warranty

    Period;

    (3) if the Product fails during normal and proper use within the Warranty Period, we will repair or replace the defective parts of the Product, or the Product itself, with new parts or products that are functionally equivalent or superior to those originally supplied;

    (4) all components or Products repaired or replaced by Whirlpool (Australia) Pty Ltd will be under warranty for the remaining period of the Warranty Period or three months, whichever is greater.

    (b) The manufacturer’s warranty only covers defects in workmanship and materials during the Warranty Period and in normal use conditions. All Whirlpool consumer products have been designed and tested for domestic purposes only and this warranty does not cover damage arising from use of the Product in a commercial environment. This warranty also does not apply to customer induced damages or circumstances outside Whirlpool’s control such as, but not limited to:

    (1) non-usability or damage to the Product caused by accident, misuse, fire, water damage or rust caused by abrasion, scratching, exposure to abnormally corrosive conditions, blockages by foreign objects (for example, coins, underwires, nails, buttons or jewellery), exposure to excessive heat, moisture or dampness, contamination with hazardous substances, radiation, vermin or insects;

    (2) damage to the Product resulting from repair work carried out by persons other than an authorised Whirlpool service technician or from the use of other than genuine Whirlpool spare parts;

    (3) damage caused from the use of the Product in a manner other than the use for which it was specifically designed;

    (4) damage caused by normal wear and tear;

    (5) damage arising from failure to maintain the Product as per the “Use and Care Guide” or “Instruction Manual” for the Product;

    (6) damage to the Product caused by war, terrorism, fire, accident, natural disaster, intentional or accidental misuse, abuse, neglect, improper maintenance or use under abnormal conditions;

    (7) damage to the Product as a result of excessive use of cleaning products or cleaning agents;

    (8) damage to the Product caused by an external electrical fault or any accident;

    (9) replacement and maintenance of light bulbs, all types of filters and other consumable parts which have ceased working due to normal wear and tear;

    (10) damage to the Product caused by unauthorised modifications made to the Product;

    (11) problems or damage to the Product caused by incorrect or inadequate venting of the Product;

    (12) damage (accidental or other) to the Product that is cosmetic, meaning damage that does not impact the operation and functioning of the Product, such as without limitation rust, change in colour, texture or finish, wear and tear, gradual deterioration;

    (13) damage to the Product caused by improper installation by a person not authorised by Whirlpool;

    (14) fraud, theft, unexplained disappearance or wilful act; and

    (15) failure caused by improper installation, operation, cleaning or maintenance, accident, misuse, abuse, non-Whirlpool modifications to the Product, or any other event, act, default or omission outside

    Whirlpool’s control.

    4.     Making a Manufacturers Warranty Claim

    (a) In order to be able to make a claim under this manufacturer’s warranty you need to:

    (1) register your Product within 30 days of the original purchase by one of the following ways:

    (A) to register online at our website www.whirlpool.com.au (Australia) or www.whirlpool.co.nz (NZ);

    (B) to register via phone, please call 1300 363 344 (Australia) or 0800 442 584 (NZ); or

    (C) to register by post, simply complete the warranty registration form attached and send it to

    (2) show proof of purchase of the Product (for example, the original receipt or a copy of the original receipt) to Whirlpool or the authorised Whirlpool service technician, as and when requested by Whirlpool or the authorised Whirlpool service technician.

    (b) To make a claim under the warranty please contact customer support by telephoning on the number set out above. If your claim relates to superficial damage to your Product as a result of transport undertaken by or on behalf of Whirlpool, you must contact customer support within 7 days of the delivery date.

    (c) When you make your claim you should provide a full description of the Product (including your model number), serial number, date of purchase and the reason for the claim under this warranty. We reserve the right to not schedule an appointment with an authorised Whirlpool service technician if you do not provide these details at the time of making a claim.

    (d) Once you have made your claim:

    (1) For large Products (such as a refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer, cooktop, range hood, oven or freestanding cooker) we will send out an authorised Whirlpool service technician to assess your claim.

    (2) For small Products (such as a microwave oven) we may ask you to bring the Product to your nearest

    Whirlpool authorised service agent to assess your claim. If the claim is accepted, you will be entitled to seek the reasonable costs of transport.

    (e) We will notify you as to whether your claim is covered under the manufacturer’s warranty. If your claim is approved then we will repair the Product or provide a replacement Product back to you. The decision whether to repair or replace a Product under this warranty is at our sole discretion.

    5.     Transfer of the Manufacturers Warranty

    This manufacturer’s warranty is transferable to a subsequent owner of the Product, provided that Whirlpool is informed in writing, within a reasonable time of the sale of the Product, of the new owners name and contact details, by any one of the methods set out in section 4(a)(1) above. Such notice to us should identify the name of the previous owner of the Product, place and date of purchase, model number and serial number of the Product.
